Hygiene

For a deep clean.

A dental hygienist removes plaque and tartar deposits by ‘scaling and polishing’ your teeth with special dental tools and products. Another important part of their role is to demonstrate how to care for your teeth at home to minimise your risk of developing gum disease, caused by the bacteria in plaque. They will show you the most effective brushing and flossing techniques, as well as how to use interdental brushes.

Maintaining dental hygiene helps you avoid gum disease and bad breath. You may need special hygiene advice if you have certain restorations such as a bridge, denture or dental implant or you wear braces.

Attending regular hygiene appointments will ensure your mouth remains fresh, clean and healthy.
